I cut my dog's nails last night and I cut one of the quicks and put some syptic on it and it stopped but this morning we were playing and it started bleeding again. Is there anything I can do to get it to stop opening up? Also, not playing is not a option. Thanks! How do I get my dog's nail to stop bleeding?
I would put the styptic powder on there- it shouldn't open up again. How do I get my dog's nail to stop bleeding?
Put flour or corn starch on it. It should stop the bleeding, but I'm not totally sure if it'll keep it from opening up again.
Super glue is always an option. (Not kidding.)
When our dogs got in a fight one time (sad how our minature schnauzer defeated the black lab...) but our lab had a huge gash in her ear that wouldn't stop bleeding and my mom put super glue on it and it was fine.
No more whining, crying, or bleeding. She didn't like when she put it on, but she doesn't like being restrained either.
If it bleeds, you can put some flour on it. That will stop it. If it continues to keep bleeding, call your vet.
Just keep applying the qwik stop, playing will continue to open it, it's sort of like having a cut that bleeds and when it stops you scratch it...well it will bleed again, so you may want to take it easy for a little while. It's nothing to be concerned about (just kind of messy) BTW I am a Prof. Pet Groomer, so i deal with this regularly.
